Winton News

The 20th of April marks the day that Winton headed off to Lady Northcote Recreation Camp for two days of self reflection, tutor bonding and bare minimum phone reception. We participated in a wide range of activities upon this trip - many challenging and surprising each of us in some way, shape or form. For some individuals, the thought of jumping off a 15 metre pole with your peers holding your rope or the sheer effort of building a raft from scratch while remaining dry across a murky, freezing lake was absolutely terrifying. Step by step however, every single person slowly came out of their shell. This trip required us to be pushed out of our comfort zone along with everyone else in our cluster. We clung to each other for support - both in the literal and emotional sense. We conversed with new people over our meals. We explored the grounds without phones in front of our faces. Truthfully, it was a breath of fresh air. A chance to understand and get closer to peers that I’ve never even talked to before, in a unique environment outside of school. Ultimately, the effort you put into something results in what you get out of each experience.

“Was a good bonding time, with not only our tutor groups but our cluster as a whole”
