Working together for the child's best interest is what everybody wants

The family-school partnership is an incredibly powerful relationship that can help students achieve some amazing results, not just academically but also socially. We acknowledge that when a positive family-school partnership is achieved, enormous benefits come.

At St Fidelis' we are actively trying to build up these relationship.  We recognise that it takes a lot of work to establish and maintain. As we know clear communication or information sharing is one aspect of developing this relationship. We also understand the if the school can have a mutually respectful relationship in place, then it is much easier to work through the tough times together when they occur.

The school and the parents want exactly the same things for our children and  students.

At St Fidelis' we are actively trying to build these relationships.  Below are a list of opportunities we have initiated within the first term of 2018 to achieve this goal.

                   - Prep Literacy information workshop

                   - Prep Numeracy workshops

                   - Informal morning teas with the classroom teacher

                   - Formal parent chat with the classroom teacher

                   - Whole school mass

                   - Introduction of Parent Representative for each classroom

                   - Homework information meetings

                   - Parent curriculum workshops

                   - Parent supporting on excursions

                   - Parent classroom support courses

                   - Opening the classroom up for parents each morning

                   - Teachers informally meeting up with parents in the yard after school

                   - Opportunity to join the Parents and Friends

                   - Phone calls, emails, personal conversations initiated by the teacher/parents/carers with the                           parents/carers/teacher

                   - Open classrooms to parents after school at the end of term to display your child's learning                              journey over the course of the term

It's important to us that our policies and practices match.  Discussions that honour opinions and seek to understand each other better help us to achieve outcomes that support the important reason for having them - the welfare and education of our children and students.

If you have any further ideas how we can continue to build these relationship, please contact me directly or let the classroom teacher know and they can pass on your thoughts.
