Student Leadership
Please see below some information from some of our wonderful school leaders.
Thank you also to Anouk and Tilda for organising the schedule and supporting the students to complete their reflections.
Science and Sustainability Captains
I am a sustainability ambassador for 2022 and my name is Lewis Butera.
Me and my fellow sustainability captain Riley learnt about what the year 3s and 4s are doing in science this term. They are learning about force. They will understand that a force is a push motion or a pull motion and will investigate how forces can be exerted by one object on another through direct contact (contact force) or from a distance (non-contact force.) Contact forces are physical, hands on forces and non-contact forces compromise things such as gravity and magnetism.
When carrying out practical activities and experiments relating to force and its many applications, the students will also see how science involves making predictions, analysing data, and drawing conclusions.
English Captains
Hello, we are Anouk and Tilda and we are the English/ library ambassadors and we interviewed the preps or foundation students and what they have been doing in reading and writing and writing.
First we asked them what books they have been reading, in class and at home. Some said Tom Tom which was in class and making music, my family tree monkey walk, the best legs, caresole colours, circus, hoppity hop and more. The next question we asked was what they had been writing about, some of the foundation students answered that they had been writing a responding to Tom Tom, others said that they wrote a recount on Monday about what they did on the weekend. One prep said he had wrote about monsters and minions another said she had wrote about her family.
We also asked them their favourite thing about reading a few said that they liked the words or illustrations, some other answers were the action in the books monkeys and monkey bars (I think from the book monkey walk) someone said that they liked how when the miss something their dad repeats it in a funny voice. Some preps said that the new library was good because it was close and that they didn’t have to walk as far as the normally would have to, others said they could see the books more easily because of the light. Others said that they liked the books that were on display. So all in all Ms Dawson did a great job of the new library.
I would say that the preps love your work Ms Dawson and we would give it a 10/10 too, well done.
Wellbeing Captains
Hello, we are the well-being ambassadors of 2022 and our names are Maryrose and Ffion. We interviewed the grade 6s about what they are doing in Respectful Relationships (RRRR). In room 1 we interviewed Georgia and Eason and they said that they are learning about coping with personal problems (problems about how you feel or how others make you feel) , managing their emotions and learning about positive coping mechanisms. In room 2 we interviewed Lewis and Ethan, they told us that they are learning about helping each other and finding positive solutions and what to do in conflicts or arguments. In room 3 we interviewed Lucy and Ashleigh. They told us they are learning about positive self talk which is what you say to yourself to make you feel better and they are also learning about what personal problems are.
Please also see below some thoughts about our recent Year 6 camp.
