Acting Principal's Message

Mrs Wildermuth
Mrs Wildermuth

It’s hard to believe that we are nearly halfway through this 9 week term!  In the last couple of weeks, the school has been a hive of activity as students from P -2 undertook swimming lessons at our new venue, NAPLAN was successfully undertaken by students in Yrs. 3 and 5, an amazing Mother’s/Special person luncheon and stall was held, a foundation mini concert for parents and many excursions across the school have occurred. All these important activities add to our students experiences and drive connection and relationships within our school community. A big thank-you to all the parents who initiated, organized and supported these many fabulous activities. We truly have a wonderful school community.

We are delighted to announce that Mrs. Marasinghe and her husband welcomed into the world a baby girl. Mrs. Marasinghe hopes to visit the school in the coming months. Congratulations Mrs. Marasinghe!

Pupil free day reminder

A reminder to diarise and make alternative arrangements for Thursday 2nd June as students are not required to attend on that day. The staff Professional Practice Day (as directed by the Department of Education) has been organized to occur before a curriculum day to minimize disruption by backing it onto our existing Curriculum Day.

OSH Club will be advertising a program for this day and also the curriculum day on Friday the 3rd June shortly.

Attitudes to School Survey

We value student voice as a means to improving student engagement, wellbeing and quality instruction and, as we do every year, we will be conducting a survey to find out what your child (Students in Yrs. 4 -6) thinks of our school.

The AtoSS is an annual student survey offered by the Department of Education and Training to assist all schools to gain an understanding of students’ perceptions and experience of school. Students will be asked about their thoughts and feelings, their learning, peer and family relationships, resilience, bullying, mental health and wellbeing, physical activity, and life in general. TPS will use the survey results to plan programs and activities to improve your child’s schooling experience.

This year, the AtoSS will be conducted between the 30th May and the 10th of June.

Celebrating education week from 22-28 May.

Victoria is celebrating Education Week 2022 from Sunday 22 May to Saturday 28 May 2022 and this year’s Education Week theme, ‘150 Years of Public Education’, commemorates the past, celebrates the present and imagines the future of education in Victoria.

Now in its 78th year, Education Week celebrates the strengths and achievements of Victoria’s government education sector. This year’s theme is 150 Years of Public Education, to coincide with this milestone anniversary for Victoria.

Education Week 2022 is an opportunity for all primary and secondary schools, higher education providers, and early childhood education and care services to commemorate the past, celebrate the present and imagine the future of education in Victoria. Every educator, school, kindergarten and TAFE is continuing the education story started in 1872 when Victoria became one of the first jurisdictions in the world to create a central school system offering free, secular, compulsory education to its children. We will be having a few activities during the week to showcase our learning with an open math’s morning and a math’s family night for the community.

Come and celebrate learning in the classroom with your child/children. We look forward to seeing you at this time.

Connecting our Community

One of my aims for this year, is to reconnect or connect (for our new families) our community through a variety of events. This term we have some great opportunities to do so. In Week 5 we have our Open Math’s Morning - Tuesday 24th May and our Family Math’s Night on Thursday 26th MAY. These are a great way to see what great programs our occurring in our school and also to connect with othersThe math’s team, led by Mr. Fletcher are planning a fun Math’s Night at TPS and we'd love to see you all there! The Math’s Night is a great opportunity to engage in math’s activities with your child/children and don’t worry the maths will not be too challenging! I look forward to seeing you at these events.

Later this term, on Wednesday 15th June, we will also have our first instrumental Soiree night. Ms. Exintaris will be providing further information.

Kind regards,

Sharon Wildermuth
