Our Learning K/1/2

This week all of the students are completing their first projects for the term. We have all been studying the Geography/HASS content of the Australian Curriculum which begins in Kindergarten with the students learning about the ways in which places are special and how people, including Indigenous Australians look after them. They used a variety of art techniques to create their own story about a special house.
In Years 1 and 2 the students, explored the people and places in their local community. They learned about the names of streets and towns and created simple maps to illustrate the locations of places.
The 3/4 Classes explored the National Parks in Australia. They learned about the locations of states and territories and explored the care of land from an Indigenous perspective.
In class 5 and 6 the students used geographical tools to investigate the locations of places around the world. They recorded data about population, wealth distribution, climate, languages and culture and used this knowledge to underpin an inquiry into how people are affecting a particular ecosystem.
