PRINCIPAL UPDATE

Dear Families

NAPLAN:

Congratulations to students, staff and parents who have supported this Government assessment. It was a challenge for all given the number of students who were absent over the assessment period. Special thanks to Monica Weiland who kept us all on track and supported us on the way.

Hopefully given the assessments, except for year 3 Writing, were on line the results will be back with us quickly. We can then use the information to inform the future learning of the students at an individual level.

Lightning Premiership:

Congratulations to all that competed in the Lightning Premiership in soccer, netball, T-ball and football. As always the feedback was positive around our students behaviour and effort. I want to thank both the parents and staff who made this happen by organising events, travelling with the teams and turning up to support. Without this support the events would not be able to happen.

Divisional Cross Country:

We have 8 competitors at the next level of competition at Eastern Gardens. We wish them all well for the competition. For those who have had the chance to watch these runners I am sure you would agree that they are at a very high standard.

Permission Forms:

Some of the opportunities for our students require permission forms to be signed by parent / guardian. If this is the case please return permission asap. If permissions are not received we cannot presume we  are able to take the student on the excursion etc. This will mean the student (individual) stay at school or we cancel the event. Please help us to provide these experiences.

Attitudes to School:

As part of our feedback process we provide an opportunity for the students in Years 4, 5, and 6 to undergo an annual survey of a range of topics. Their feedback and thoughts and combined with another survey (Pivot) which we also administer to the students.

Details and opt out opportunity will be sent  tomorrow to parents of students in Year 4, 5, and 6.

Wellbeing and Engagement  Policy:

Please find a link to our Wellbeing and Discipline Policy which has been reviewed by staff and School Council. The last section around levels of behaviour is the one we wish you to pay attention to. The consequences are possible consequences not “must dos.” The context of year level, background, frequency of behaviour and any other relevant issues must be considered.

The purpose of the policy is to set expectations of behaviour which is clear to all.

Friday – Report Writing Day:

We are offering care during the day for those who need it. A change in the regulations make the attendance eligible for CCB rebate as is the case in before and after school care.

Please contact Cheryl to book in. The numbers required to run the program is a given. If we do not reach the required attendance we will be forced to cancel. Please book your children in asap.
