From the Principal

Week 6 Term 2 2022

Dear Parents and Carers

Professional Learning

On Monday the staff were involved in professional learning around "Inquiry" The day was led by Shaz Bailey who is an expert in this field. Shaz challenged the staff in their thinking and suggested ways to engage the students even further through inquiry.

Everyone wonders and as educators how do we bring out these wonderings in our students so that it has a deeper impact in their learning?

The feedback from staff was very positive and Shaz will continue to work with staff throughout the year.

Parents helpers course

A parent helpers course  will be conducted on Friday 10th June commencing at 9.00am  in the Jarrow room. If you wish to be a volunteer in your child's class this year, I ask that you please attend even if you have completed the course before.  The session will cover many components including the latest COVID requirements.  The session will run between 60 and 90 mins.

First Eucharist

The parent/child faith night was held on Tuesday evening in the church. Thank you to Fr John, Ms Reed, Mrs Silvers, Ms Ferentinos,  Mr Carbines and Mrs Moulder for leading the evening.  For those in attendance I hope it provided you with the stimulus to discuss the sections of the mass in greater depth with your child as they prepare for their First Eucharist.

Our Latest Australian Citizens

Congratulations to Alexej and Michail who on Monday became Australian Citizens.

COVID 19

If anyone requires RATs or masks please contact the office. The government has continued to supply us with them. There is currently both the flu and COVID within our community so please take care. So far we have been able to replace sick staff with an emergency teacher. There maybe times when this isn't possible!

My School Connect/Skoolbag

As mentioned in last week's newsletter, My school connect has partnered with skoolbag. If you have checked skoolbag recently ( yesterday) you should  have received the following message.

Great news - you can now access My School Connect via the SkoolBag app! This means you only need one app on your device to easily make cashless transactions and receive our school communications.

Simply open the SkoolBag app, select your school and click on the My School Connect tile.

The first time you access you will be prompted to login or register (if you don’t already have a My School Connect account). Once you have signed in you will stay signed in and can instantly access My School Connect from the SkoolBag app.

St Bede's will work closely with  Skoolbag to provide the best service possible for our families.

Prep 2023 Interviews

I am conducting prep interviews for all the families who have a child starting in Prep in 2023 next week.  If you need to change the time allocated please contact the office.

If you are aware of anyone who is still looking for a Prep 2023 placement please ask them to contact the office to arrange a tour.

Have a great week

Brian
