W.A. Young Australian

of the Year

Recently some of our Middle Years students had the opportunity to listen to West Australian, Young Australian of the Year, Abdullahi Alim, give a speech at Her Majesty's Theatre in Ballarat. Abdullahi, a recipient of the Leaders Award, presented by Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace, now sits on the Board of the Queens Commonwealth Trust, under the patronage of Queen Elizabeth II and assists in leading the World Economic Forums network of emerging young leaders.

An exceptionally motivational public speaker, Abdullahi, being a refugee himself, is very passionate about cultural diversity, while aspiring towards building safer, more resilient communities and advocating for inclusive innovation. Overall it was a very inspiring experience for students.

Afterwards students lunched outside The Art Gallery of Ballarat and followed it up with a visit to Regent Cinemas to see 'Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness'.

BSC would like to thank The Pyrenees Shire Council for kindly donating the funds to cover the cost of the bus.
