Farm Experience

As mentioned in our previous edition, our Year 11 Ag Science students have been gaining some hands-on experience at a local farm. This time they were learning how to drench ewes prior to them lambing in June.

Students were advised about the drench used and why, before having a go at drenching themselves. They soon learnt that the animals don’t always make it easy and that getting through a mob quickly, takes skill. Of the 600 ewes in the mob, the girls drenched about 100.

This practical knowledge and experience broaden the students understanding of the day-to-day requirements of farm life.
