Secondary Cross Country

Good luck to the Secondary Cross Country team that are participating at the SSATIS event at Queens Domain today.  The weather is a little cool, but thankfully dry, so we hope competitors enjoy the day, and are satisfied with their run.

Primary Netball

This season the College is represented by three teams in the JSSATIS Primary Netball competition, two Year 5/6 teams and a Year 3/4 team.  The Year 3/4 did an amazing job in their first game against St Mary’s.  Many of these students were playing netball for the first time, so the game was as much about learning the rules of netball, as playing the game.  The Year 5/6 teams are displaying some great skills.  Good luck to all our Primary netballers as the season progresses. Thanks to all the netball volunteers for their time and expertise, at lunch time training and at the games.

Secondary Hockey

The School Girls Hockey Competition commenced on 9 May at the Tasmanian Hockey Centre.   Mount Carmel has entered a combined team with St Mary’s College in the Girls Division 2 competition on Monday afternoons.  The team includes six players from Year 8 and two from Year 10 at Mount Carmel, and the four St Mary’s players are from Year 8, 9 and 12.

The team had a strong opening game defeating GYC 6–2, which was a wonderful achievement for such a young team.  Last week they achieved a hard fought 2–2 draw versus Friends, and this week defeated Fahan 3–2 in a thriller.  The team is currently sitting on top of the ladder, and hope to continue to improve and challenge for a spot in the grand final.
