Principal Report

Week 10, Term 2

It sure is great to have all of our students back at school, from Prep through to Grade 6. The transition back to school has been very smooth, this is a credit to students, parents and our staff. When I visit classrooms there is a real excitement about being back into the school routine. On Monday we started the week with a virtual Assembly, where classes joined via Webex and our normal awards (Oatlands Oscar and VGK Awards) were announced. At this stage we are planning for the Grade 4 and 5 Camps in Term 4, along with one or two year level excursions.

The new morning drop-off zone seems to be working well, with up to 60 cars every morning taking advantage of this zone at the Soccer Car Park bowl. A big thank you to parents for your patience, kindness and smiles of mornings as this new area was set up.

The Pirate Ship Playground will be supervised between 8:30am - 9:00am and 3:30pm - 4:00pm. We would like to encourage as many parents as possible to spread out their drop off and pick up times utilising the supervision times in the Pirate Ship Playground.

We would like to remind all parents and carers entering the school grounds to spend as little time as possible here. It is encouraged that you only enter to drop you child off and pick them up. Please do not linger in the school grounds.

Remember to always practise safe social distancing by staying 1.5 metres apart from others in and around the school grounds.

Parking in an illegal and/or unsafe manner around our school puts our students in danger.

Please show respect to our local neighbourhood residents by not parking in an illegal or unsafe manner (parking across or in driveways, No standing Zones, double parking and parking on the nature strip.)

The Casey Shire Council monitor the area and fine cars who do not abide by the regulations.

If parking across the road from school can you please encourage your child/ren to use the crossings and not run out in front of traffic. We have had reports of some near misses of children running out in front of cars. This is due to some parents encouraging their children across the road in front of the school instead of crossing at the school crossings.

Thank you for your ongoing support to ensure safe transition back to school.

If you have a child due to start at Oatlands PS next year in Prep 2021 and have not yet officially enrolled them, could you please contact the office on 9705 6055 ASAP to do so.

A reminder that we have our parent survey open at the moment. Details are below:

During the recent period of remote learning there have been some possible gems emerge that we want to take advantage of as a school. As a result, we are surveying parents, students and staff to capture some of the things that worked well during this period. Please follow the link to the survey. Thank you for your help with this.
