School Council

To our Deadly TPS staff,

You have held us in your hearts, and in turn we hold you in ours. So, here's a little something from ours to yours.

XX The Kids

Kii amazing TPS Community!

Our strange times continue, as we begin to put our toes into the water for the ’new

normal’. The Foundation - Year 1/2 students have been back at school for over a fortnight, and the Year 3-6 students only a couple of days. It has been an unprecedented and stressful time for all of us to varying degrees and in varying ways. Now more than ever it is important to connect with your community, look after and be kind to yourselves and those around you, and to find and hang onto the positives from the last few months, wherever you can.

The TPS staff have been working tirelessly in facilitating remote learning in a supportive and flexible way, and doing their best to ensure a smooth and safe return to school. In a

continually evolving situation the stress on everyone has been high.

TPS Council has sent a letter to all TPS staff to express our gratitude for their incredible

efforts during this difficult time. (see below)

TPS Council meeting

TPS Council continues to meet online. At our May meeting we discussed the following:

  • Works from the Clapham Street building development, it’s impact on the eastern boundary of the school, and working to improve safety for students and lessen the disruption as much as possible
  • Child safety standards and training
  • The return of OSHC (before and after school care)
  • Team Kids July school holiday program at TPS (see below)
  • Kitchen Garden Shelter, getting builders quotes
  • Uniforms, how families purchase within Covid-19 restrictions (see below)
  • Covid-19 community support
  • Recent State Government school funding grants, and ongoing strategies to ensure TPS gets these in future
  • TPS lunch orders, ensuring hygiene and requesting more sustainable packaging

TPS School Uniforms

Our school uniform is mostly supplied by PSW, but unique TPS items such as Deadly

Hoodies, NAIDOC t-shirts and the royal blue woollen tunics are sourced separately by TPS.

PSW school uniform sales have been temporarily moved off the TPS site due to Covid-19

restrictions until further notice.  This covers TPS blue logo items, such as t-shirts, polo’s, bomber jackets, hats, and various generic items like pants and lightweight dresses. Families can order any PSW items via their website:

https://www.psw.com.au/schools/thornbury-primary-school.html

and either have items delivered to your home, or collect from PSW’s shop in East Kew.

Store Trading Hours:

Tuesday to Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm

Saturday 10:00am to 1:00pm

Phone: 03 9768 0381

Deadly Hoodies are available from TPS only via the order form sent out on Compass. Orders will be processed at the office on Wednesday 10th and 17th June only, for distribution directly to children on the following Thursday or Friday.  We will revise this arrangement for Term Three.

At this stage NAIDOC t-shirts and woollen tunics are unavailable in term 2. We will revise

this arrangement for Term Three.

Our apologies for any inconvenience. These arrangements are only due to Covid-19

restrictions, as they currently stand, to protect everyone, and will change back at some point in the future to sales of all items at TPS.

In the meantime remember that generic plain royal blue tops and black pants are acceptable.

All the best for the return to school!

Kii Dearest TPS Staff,

What a crazy time we have all been having. Our year started optimistically, and then look

what happened! Now we are starting again after a long time away. It has been hard for

everyone to stay energised and hopeful.

TPS School Council would like to acknowledge that everyone at our school community plays a key part in making it work. We are deeply grateful to our staff for keeping themselves safe and working tirelessly to accommodate the changing demands and directives coming from all angles. The last couple of months have demonstrated how resilient our school community is.

A stellar and appreciated effort from you all. You, the staff, have helped to hold our children as we figure out how to remain hopeful. We are so glad to be back and learning with you face to face.

Twaganin,

TPS Council
