7-9 Food Tech

Food Tech News

Food technology for Year 8s has looked very different for the 8 weeks of Term two during Remote Learning. Some students have done an outstanding job by extending their cooking skills and diligently working through the components of Australian Guide to Healthy Eating.

It has been challenging but also a learning curve for students as well as Food Technology curriculum. Week seven involved students watching Jamie Oliver’s Egg Master Class and then producing some amazing dishes with egg as the main ingredient, photos attached. We all are looking forward to exciting Food technology lessons in the last few weeks of this term at school. Welcome back Brooksiders!!!

Doing food technology during remote learning has been very fun. It has been fun being able to cook food we enjoy for our families and learn more about our nutrition and the Australian guide to healthy eating. We have been able to improve on our cooking skills in a less crowded environment and more opportunities to try new things. We have done a lot more theory than what we would be doing if we were at school and it has given us a chance to learn more about how we can stay healthy by eating nutritious food and having a variety of  foods from the different food groups.

Food Technology in remote learning has been a new and amazing experience for Year 8. During this term, we have learnt about how to be healthy in our diet. We have learning about the different aspects of food groups and how they contribute to our diet.

By cooking a variety of delicious meals, we have learnt to sustain a balance in our diet. The classes were very enjoyable and made us feel like we were still in school. These experiences have greatly expanded our knowledge and have a left a permanent mark.
