Dear Brookside Students, Staff and Parents,

A huge welcome back to everyone!!! We were all very excited to finally welcome back our students in Years 3-9 this week, joining our students in P-2 to become a whole school once again. I know that I have said this multiple times already, but I want to thank you all yet again for your support in making Remote Online Home Learning a success. Whilst it took us some time to adjust and find the strategies that best worked for us, we are very proud of the effort that everyone in our community put in during this time. A huge thank you to:

  • our amazing students who worked hard at home to complete their work each and every day!
  • our fantastic staff who diligently planned lessons and provided student feedback!
  • our wonderful parents who supported and encouraged the students and staff through it all!

Pick Up and Drop off Arrangements

Please find below a reminder of the recent information posted on Compass regarding the morning drop off and afternoon pick up process. We understand that this process may prove to be different and difficult for some parents, but we thank you for trying to support the direction provided by the Victorian Government and Department of Education to address the current Covid-19 situation.

  • Access to the school grounds remains restricted to students and staff, including volunteers whose services are necessary to ensure the appropriate delivery of school programs. All other parents and guardians are not to enter the school premises via any gate at any time. Please only attend the college when urgent and unavoidable, and where possible please continue to conduct Zoom meetings or speak via the phone with staff. If you must attend for any reason please present to the front office.
  • As parents and guardians are not able to enter the school grounds, students will need to walk into the school grounds independently and go straight to their classrooms to line up. Staff will be stationed at various gates to assist students to enter the grounds safely.
The altered drop off and pick up arrangements for students each morning and afternoon are as follows:
  • Prep students and all of their older siblings are to arrive and depart only via the gate between the Administration building and the Gym (Gym Gate) from 8:30am.
  • Students in Years 1 & 2 and all of their older siblings are to arrive and depart only via the first Oval gate (Canteen gate) nearest to the canteen from 8:30am.
  • Students in Year 3 and all of their older siblings are to arrive and depart only via the second Oval gate nearest to the Prep Playground (Playground Gate) from 8:30am.
  • Students in Year 4 and all of their older siblings are to arrive and depart only via the gate between the Administration building and the Gym (Gym Gate) from 8:30am.
  • Students in Years 5 & 6 and all of their older siblings are to arrive and depart only via the Stevenson Crescent gate from 8:30am.
  • Students in Year 7 and all of their older siblings are to arrive and depart only via the gate located between the Northern Building and the Year 7 portables (Northern gate) from 8:30am.
  • Students in Years 8 & 9 are to arrive and depart only via the Basketball Court gate from 8:30am.

Please note that students in Years 3-9 (unless they have siblings in P-2) will be released from their designated gates to leave independently. We strongly encourage you to make arrangements with your child/children each morning, so that they know where to meet you after they exit the school grounds via their allocated gate.

Brookside College Network News

Our second instalment of the Brookside College Network News was another smash hit! Well done to our school captain Taha who worked very hard to put this piece together, which included many welcome messages from staff as well as some very cute P-2 students sharing their return to school experiences!

We wish you all a wonderful weekend!
