Principal's message

With just over a week until the holidays, I know that many people will be wondering what term 3 will look like in terms of COVID-19 restrictions. While we are hoping for a return to our usual 9:00 am to 3:30 pm school day, we are waiting for the Health Department to advise the Department of Education and Training (DET) about the lifting of current restrictions.

Once we receive directions, we will communicate them to you via Compass, so I know you will keep an eye on the Compass alerts.

Speaking of holidays, reminder that students finish at 1:30 pm next Friday June 26.

All students will eat their lunch at 12:45 pm in their room.

Personally I have really enjoyed seeing the resilience of our kids, many of who would be ‘walked to their room’ prior to restrictions. Saying “good bye”, “I love you”, and “have a good day”, at the gate is giving our children the chance to show some independence as they make their way to their room. Well done to our students and to the parents who are “letting go”; perhaps you might consider continuing this when restrictions lift.

Green news

Whittlesea Council is excited to announce that from the 1st of July, residents will be able to include food scraps in their fortnightly garden waste bin. Some common items include eggshells, vegetable and fruit scraps, coffee grounds, bread, cooked bones and more. Throughout June, residents with an existing garden waste bin will be receiving a FREE kitchen caddy and pack of 150 compostable liners to help them transition to food recycling easily.

In the City of Whittlesea, the general waste bin usually contains about 40% of food waste. Food waste ends up in landfill where it is unable to break down naturally, producing methane - a powerful greenhouse gas.

Become an environmental champion and recycle your food waste instead of putting it in the rubbish bin. When you recycle your food waste, Council collects it and sends it to our local composting facility where it is made into fresh, healthy compost. This is then used to improve soil in productive areas of your community, such as schools, farms, parks and community gardens.

Support your community and recycle your food waste. To book your food and garden waste bin (and receive your FREE kitchen caddy and liners) visit Council’s website

Plenty Road upgrade works

Plenty Road Upgrade works which may mean an even earlier departure time from home.

Over the coming months, major works will continue as new lanes and intersections on Plenty Road between Bush Boulevard and Bridge Inn Road are built.

Traffic changes

McArthurs Road to Waterview Drive

From Monday 22 June, traffic will move over to the northbound lanes between McArthurs Road and Waterview Drive.

During this time, The Parkway will be closed at Plenty Road until late 2020.

McDonalds Road to Gordons Road

From mid-July, traffic will move to the southbound lanes between McDonalds and Gordons roads.

Gordons Road will be closed from mid-July to mid-August.

Bridge Inn Road

Building new lanes at the intersection of Plenty Road and Bridge Inn Road will mean pedestrian and cyclist detours in place at the intersection until mid-2021.

There will also be changes to bus stops and pedestrian access along different sections of Plenty Road. View all disruptions on Victoria's Big Build
