PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Mr David Whewell | Principal

Did you know..

Our prep students have settled in well and are working independently during literacy and numeracy sessions.

Students attending tutoring sessions have been engaging in hands on learning targeted at their individual point of need. The small group nature of the sessions allows for one on one tuition that is very beneficial.

Our new OSHC provider ‘Their Care’ have been receiving very positive reports from parents regarding student satisfaction with the programs being offered.

I have been diligently working with senior staff to prepare grant applications to access funds to develop our vegetable garden area.

Learning to live with others

We are very fortunate that on most occasions our students display the school values and interact together in an appropriate manner. At times we need to work closely with students to help them understand the importance of taking turns and letting others have a go. One thing we do notice is that students who experience out of school activities that require teamwork (like playing in a Netball side) or discipline (learning an instrument, training for swim squad) are often able to draw on these experiences to assist them during challenging situations.

If you are looking to enrol your child in an after-hours activity, and require information, please talk to Mr Scanu or Mr Stubberfield who can point you in the right direction.

Excelling in a range of fields

Building on my last item, it was wonderful to see the school full of parents at 4:30pm last Wednesday. Many of you were picking up students who stayed for our extension specialist sessions involving Art, Drama, Music and Physical Education. These extra sessions provide students and staff with the opportunity to explore areas of interest and collaborate with like-minded children.

I am happy to share with you that due to the success of the trial, an extended three-week program will be offered next term, starting on the 24 May. A special thank you to Bu Ladd and her team for investing their time in our young people.

Family Fun Night

Family Fun Night (March 30th) is approaching, and preparations are underway. Thank you to those families who were able to donate items and to those who have spoken to Laura in the office, offering to volunteer on the night. We have a coffee and chat Fun Night meeting tomorrow morning in the staff room if you are around after drop off.

Assembly

Please note that we have our next Year 1 to Year 6 assembly on Monday 27th March at 9:10am. Parents are very welcome. Our band will be performing. We also have a whole school end of term assembly at 2:30pm on Wednesday 5th April where specialist awards will be announced.

Regards,
