Art Room News

Creativity takes courage. Henri Matisse

Hello RHPS Artists,

WOW! What a super fast term! I can't believe term 1 is almost finished.

The Prep artists have settled into the art room really well. They have painted, drawn, cut, glued, followed guided drawing and created a huge range of artwork. Their lastest pieces of artwork, our Koala art, are currently hanging in the art room and down the corridors. Theses were created by following guided drawing directions and then using oil pastels to add colour and texture. The concentration was amazing. We are finishing off our term with some Easter inspired pieces to really display our fine motor skills.

The Grade 1/2 Artists have had a huge term of learning about form and have spent many sessions working on their birds nest, birds and eggs. They have used newspaper and tape to create bird bodies, papier mache to cover their birds and make their nests and we also used air dried clay and chalk pastels to create our eggs. A massive effort with fabulous outcomes. The birds are all unique and have the best personalities.

The Grade 3/4 Artists are currently doing an amazing job working on their Tjanpi Weaver inspired animals. Many students are now using needles to add finer details to their artwork and everyone can be very proud of their outcome. It has been wonderful to see so many students supporting each other in this year level.

Our Grade 5/6s final pieces of art are in the making and our backgrounds are now ready for their animal of choice to be added. These will be drawn using finer details, using a range of pens, pencils and watercolour. I am excited to see how these will turn out.
