Prep

Can you believe that we have already come to the end of Term 1? We are so incredibly proud of how the Preps have settled into the routine of school. They have achieved so much this term and we cannot wait for all the wonderful things Term 2 will bring.

The highlight of the past fortnight was definitely the house athletics carnival. While we may have had to wait an extra day to experience the fun (thanks Mother Nature), it was so lovely to see all of our students dressed in their house colours, beaming with pride and showing a willingness to give everything a try. The Preps have clearly made huge progress with their gross motor skills throughout the term. We just might have some future Olympic athletes in our special learning community.

Next week will mark the very last week of Term and we cannot wait to have another special meeting with our buddies. We will enjoy some Easter craft and hopefully a visit from a special fluffy bunny!

Our teaching team would like to wish all of our Prep families a very happy Easter. Enjoy a safe holiday break and we look forward to seeing you all bright and fresh next Term.

Grade 1 & 2

We hope you all had a wonderful week!

We can’t believe it is already nearly the end of Term 1.

In Reading, students have been looking at the reading strategy of Making Text-to-Text Connections. They have learnt to make connections to texts they are reading, to other texts they have previously read or seen. A text could be a TV show, movie or book. They have become very confident in making Text to Self-connections and are still working on consolidating their understanding of Text to Text.

In Writing students have been learning how to write letters. Students planned who they wanted to write a letter too. They then drafted a letter to this person, thanking them for 3 things they have done. Students focused on using the correct structure of a letter when writing before they edited their work.

In Maths, students have been learning about Time, Seasons, Months of the Year and How to Read a Calendar. They predicted how long an event takes to occur, identified how many seconds are in a minute and identified how many minutes are in an hour.

In Inquiry, students have been learning how to deal with conflict and how to look for signs of danger. These are important skills to learn so students can learn how to keep themselves safe.

On Friday the 24th of March, students participated in our Whole School Athletics Day. It was great to see students cheering for their House and putting in a great effort in all of their Athletic events.  Last day of Term 1 is next Thursday the 6th of April and students will be dismissed at 1:30pm.

Have a great Easter Holidays and we will see you next term.

Holidays are almost upon us! What an action-packed term we've had with Camp, the Colour Run, NAPLAN, Athletics Day and so much more. It has been wonderful to see new friendships being formed, students challenging themselves in the classroom and working collaboratively with their peers.

After our postponed, rain-soaked Athletics Day last Thursday, students' disappointment quickly turned to elation after hearing that it would be rescheduled for the following day. The weather held out for us this time and the students had a ball competing in a variety of track and field events with their friends.

This week we enjoyed playing sport out on the quad under the newly erected shade sails. They certainly bring a new vibrence to the space along with their practicality.

We're all excited for the term ahead, but in the meantime, we hope you all have an enjoyable and relaxing Easter break. See you next term!
