Wednesday the 8th saw a selection of students head to Inverell for the Preston Campbell Cup. This was a 7 aside rugby league gala day. We entered sides into senior and junior, tackle and tag teams. All students represented the school in an amazing manner and played their hearts out. Thank you to all families that helped take students to and from the event. The support from families on the day was exceptional. Thank you.
Classrooms have been a hive of activity and enthusiastic learning in recent weeks. The Koala classroom teachers have been training with CSO experts as Mathematics Strategic Teachers (MaST) to deliver is more exciting and deep ways of learning maths using the new NSW maths curriculum. Our primary class will begin MaST in 2024 when the 3-6 syllabus is released. The 3-6 room students are being challenged and put through their paces engaging with maths concepts sometimes in a creative way. Mr. Wisemantel is well known by all to be quite the musician!
Children have been encouraged to borrow books from the library on Thursdays. Mrs Riley has asked for outstanding books be returned to allow the students to borrow books to take home and for interest reading in the classroom. Library bags are encouraged to help protect books from unfortunate mishaps.
Science lessons have been very hands on and exciting on with slime, aluminium people, play dough, and even extracting water from plants being the focus of learning.
There has been a great uptake of RED reading. Please continue to encourage you son or daughter to read every day to build their love of reading and help them become a better reader.
With NAPLAN now here, students in year 3 and year 5 have been preparing by familiarising themselves with the NAPLAN online tools and style of questions they may encounter. Eating breakfast and being well rested will help students to complete the tests to the best of their ability.
