PFA PICNIC
What a shame. This event was cancelled due to inclement weather.
DISTRICT SWIMMING CARNIVAL
Twenty-six of our swimming stars represented our school at the District carnival on Friday 3rd March at GESAC. They trained for their events and tried their hardest to achieve personal bests. Congratulations to all students for participating and representing CPS. A big thank you to Mr Pollard and Mr Hodges for accompanying the students on the day.
We have a number of students who will progress to a regional event including our 11 year old freestyle relay team, Elliot M, Ella, Alex and Owen.
We wish them every success.
PFA
The PFA (Parents and Friends Association) AGM this year was held Monday 6th March and was well attended. The following office bearers were nominated and duly elected:
President – Sandra Michela
Treasurer – Sanaa Radion
Secretary – Lee Vu
PFA School Council Rep: Solmaz Moslehi
Our PFA were active throughout 2022 and continued connecting with the community as well as raise significant funds for our great school. The most successful fundraisers in 2022 was our biennial Fete/Fiesta raising approximately $17,000, BBQ fundraisers (including the state and federal election, Father’s day and Fathering Project) raising just over $7,000 and the Easter Raffle that raised about $6,000. Our fruit and egg drives (combined) are always popular; raising almost $8000.
It is exciting to learn that many of our successful events will continue this year. These events support CPS initiatives to improve our school. Projects have included:
- Prep PMP equipment
- Basketball backboard
- ICT equipment
- Art tiles
- Shade sails
- Cultural Art Mural
- New Flag Pole installation and Supply
We acknowledge the time and work that goes into ensuring CPS continues to thrive.
DOGS AT SCHOOL
A reminder that dogs (other than trained working dogs) are to remain outside the school gates at all times, for the wellbeing and safety of everyone.
SCHOOL ATTENDANCE
I encourage all children to attend school every day. The Department have asked us to record an attendance strategy for CPS and follow up on student absences. There will be new signage around our school “ABSENCES ADD UP”. We remind all parents and students that learning starts at 9.00am every day. Please ensure your children are on time.
Parents should notify Carnegie Primary School of absences by:
- entering absence on Compass and informing the classroom teacher with further explanation in details/comment section
- Sign students in via COMPASS Kiosk if entering school after 9am (late pass taken to class teacher)
- Sign students out via COMPASS KIOSK
Thank you for your assistance with this.
