SCHOOL COUNCIL
School Council is the school’s governing body. The 2023/24 elected School Council are:
- Peter Littlejohn, parent of David
- Julie Johnson, parent of Bethel, Emmanuel and Elijah
- Linh Duong, parent of Izzy and Kai
- Giang Vo, parent of Tyson
- Vanessa Hong, parent of Emmalyn
There is still a vacancy for:
- 1 School Councilor – parent/carer of a student at Athol Road Primary School
and
- 3 community members which were put in place to include kindergarten
It is essential that the parent/carer school councilor vacancy is filled.

KINDERGARTEN
The school kindergarten programs are FREE because they are funded by the Department of Education. The school offers:
- 15 hours of funded kindergarten for 4 year olds
- 15 hours of funded kindergarten for 3 year olds.
Enrolment is through the City of Greater Dandenong’s Central Enrolment System
YEAR 5/6 CAMP: COONAWARRA: 14th – 17th March
Our Year 5/6 students are preparing for their departure on Tuesday, 14th March for 4 days and 3 nights of fun and learning at Camp Coonawarra. They will be accompanied by 12 staff members who will ensure their safety and wellbeing. Four of the staff members are trained in First Aid. PLEASE make sure that:
- all doctor prescribed medication is clearly labelled in a container or a sealed, named bag and given to Mr Hunter on the morning of departure.
- Students who need an Epipen must include it in their medication pack
- Students who suffer from asthma should keep their asthma medication with them.
During these 4 days, students will be covering learning outcomes which cannot be covered in the school learning environment.
RAINBOW DAY: Friday, 10th March
Staff and students at Athol Road Primary School will be celebrating Rainbow Day by dressing up in rainbow colours on Friday, 10th March and bringing a GOLD COIN donation for the Royal Children’s Hospital Appeal. There will be prizes available to students and staff who impress Mrs Toombs and Mrs Harkness by their efforts to dress up on the day – it could be a hat, an outfit or something really creative to wear.
NAPLAN: 15th – 27th March
Over the period from 15th – 27th March, Year 3 & Year 5 students will participate in the NAPLAN testing program. Year 5/6 will be on camp from the 15th – 17th March, so will complete theirs between 20th – 22rd March. It is important that Year 3 and 5 students attend school each day during this period of time.
