Walcha wrap for the show season

Walcha show is the last for our New England season and what a fun weekend out for all!

38 students attended the show as part of their agriculture, Primary Industries and Individual interests with lots of success and much learning. Thanks to Nick Bolger for driving the bus.

Students were involved in Junior sheep and cattle appraisal with success in all categories. Angus Scrivener won the Meat sheep breeds with much acclaim from the judge, while Tom Lockyer was 2nd and Brooke Newberry 3rd in the merino sheep.

Yr 7 student Oliver Starr was also a finalist and is one to watch next year. Have a listen to his oral presentation.

Both Erica Menzies and Abi van Eyk made valuable use of their time practicing for the State judging finals in Sydney over Easter.

Next a little time to soak up the atmosphere and check out our cattle expertly presented by our cattle team Shyann, Monty, Tilly, and Bailey.

Over at the cattle judging Darcy Lawlor, Ollie Starr, Grace Pett and Anna McClelland were finalists with Anna placed 3rd overall U25yrs Judge. Anna has worked very hard on her public speaking this year and her efforts have paid off.

Then back on the bus to school for many students leaving our Walcha contingent to finalise cattle preparation for Junior paraders and the heifer show. Congratulations Shyann for her Parading 4th place.

Angus Scrivener, Emily Simpson, Phoebe Colvin, Chelsea Green, Lily Person and Jack Saxby were all hard at work grooming and leading for their various studs. Meanwhile Dominic and Cameron MaGann, Jess Swanton and Isabelle Kelly were doing their share of winning in the equestrian arena with Cameron stealing the show winning the 6 bar on his pony Jellybean.

Malakye Wright Pearson a fun day and we look forward to his book about Walcha.

Congratulations and thank you to all the students who made the effort to attend the show. We had lots of fun.
