Years 5 and 6 Campaspe Swimming

On Thursday 23rd February, the qualifying swimmers in Years 5 and 6 made their way on the bus to Echuca to compete in the Campaspe Swimming Carnival.

All students participated to the highest of their ability as well as cheering one another on. A couple of students even came home with a ribbon.

This was a great day for all, and the students should be proud of how they represented the St Augustine's.

Campaspe Secondary Swimming

On Tuesday 28th February, eight students from Years 7 to 11 attended the Campaspe Secondary Swimming Carnival in Echuca. All students showed perseverance in their races and some even came home with a ribbon.

A big congratulations to Sarah Whelan who won 17 year girls age champion.

It was a great day for all and the students should be proud of how they represented our College.

Years 5-12 Swimming Carnival

Could you have two more contrasting days? Our original carnival day was postponed due to temperatures reaching 41 degrees. Yesterday’s carnival peaked at a toasty 21 degrees! The students in attendance brought plenty of enthusiasm and house spirit. The Year 12s set the standard with their costumes with suits including blown up dragons, wiggles, muscle men and mario cart characters. As always, there was plenty of enthusiasm for the mini pool volleyball, ping pong scramble and the boat races.

This year we launched the Caritas Ks drive initiative to increase awareness towards our Project Compassion focus. This involved students wearing pedometers and accumulating steps by completing a range of activities. Overall between the three houses, just over 70,000 steps were tracked through the day, with some individual staff and students gaining 1,000 or more themselves!

As the day warmed up, the number of swimmers in each race increased as well. This was most likely to do with the work of DJ MacDaddy (Makenzie) on the tunes! Our relays this year had great involvement across all age groups. To finalise the day, our annual staff vs students relay was held. The male staff had a resounding win, whilst the women's relay was one of the tightest tussles in recent years, with Mrs. Sherman and Sarah W going toe to toe, right to the end. The jury is out on who took the win but for arguments sake, we’ll give it to the staff.

Overall, Augustine held a solid lead throughout the day and were unable to be caught, taking out the win, followed by Delany, with Brigidine in third place.

Thank you to everyone who came along for the day and supported this event. Thank you to all of the staff and lifeguards for their support also.

We’ve already brainstormed some new ideas moving into next year's event to make it even bigger and better.

Bring on the Cross Country in Term 2!
