Year 10 Sense of Future Day
Learning for the future. Exploring opportunities
On Tuesday 14 March all Year 10 Students will begin their Pathways program. As they start their journey at looking at what the future may hold, students will hear from our keynote speaker Polly McGee as well as hear from a number of speakers who have generously offered to share their career story. We are very appreciative of them giving up their time to support our students. Students will also participate in a variety of sessions which will offer experiences and information to support their decision making in the coming months and years.
Included in the day will be the Morrisby Psychometric Testing from which each student will receive a personal and detailed profile. The Morrisby Profile has been designed to help students who are making important decisions about their future education and/or career. It is designed to help them understand themselves better, to gain focus and direction, to improve their study techniques and gain better grades. It can also help to confirm ideas about future careers that students may already have or possibly discover new ones.
All Year 10 students are to meet at 8.30am in The Farrall Centre. Students are asked to be in full formal uniform and to have their computer fully charged for this day.
For more information please contact Trish Menadue.
Parent & Student Morrisby Information Session
Thursday 16 March, 5.30pm | The Farrall Centre
Students will receive access to their profile and Barry Darnell from Morrisby will walk students and parents through how to interpret the results.

This year’s Relay for Life will be held at the Domain Athletics Centre. Years 7-12 students are invited to join our team and walk for an hour or more with Friends’ (you don’t have to attend or walk the whole 20 hours!) to help raise money and awareness in support of the Cancer Council Tasmania.
To register or donate click here and support our "Friendlies" team.
Note: Registrations will close the week prior to the Relay and only students who have contributed to the Organising Committee are permitted to stay overnight (10pm-6am).
Please contact Greg Downes or Simone Summers for more information.
MAT Problem Solving Competition
Thursday 30 March
Several of our budding young mathematicians have been invited to participate in the Mathematical Association of Tasmania’s Problem Solving Competition. The questions are designed to elicit mathematical thinking and may require students to apply their mathematical skills to topics outside of the standard curriculum or to link together different mathematics’ topics that are traditionally taught separately. Each question may require some experimentation and different approaches before a student makes significant headway. In the past, some outstanding Mathematics students have been identified. For each question, students need to explain their reasoning and show their working (using English as well as Mathematics as necessary) to gain full marks. Students may not be able to complete all questions fully in the time frame but they will receive a better mark if they answer some questions very well rather than many questions poorly.
Students interested in participating in this competition should ask their Maths teacher for further details. The competition will run on Thursday, 30 March from 8.45am to 10.45am at the High School.
For more information please contact Joe Boyer.
