Class Uniform

With the updated uniform policy being delivered to students at assembly this week, we will be continuing to remind students of the expectations of the class uniform.  We appreciate your support in ensuring all students have the correct coloured socks (black) to wear with their all-black leather school shoes.

Universities Roadshow

There are many pathways to university for both ATAR and General students.  Next Thursday, the Universities Roadshow will be visiting the College and all students will have the opportunity to access the session to hear about options and ask questions about studying at tertiary institutions post school.

Elevate Education

We welcome back Elevate Education to the college to run their workshops with the ATAR students on good study habits and time management.  Our unique school environment certainly highlights the need to be organised and the requirement for a balance of commitment across a range of areas.

Tour of Macmahon and Bruce Rock Engineering to expose students to industry practices preparing them for workplace expectations.

Mathematics - Mr Chao

In 2023, Mathematics ATAR has come up with a new strategy to help students prepare for their exams. There were several quizzes consisting of past exam questions to help students become familiar with the exam setting and the language used.

We conducted each quiz as a formative assessment. This was intended to be stress-free, allowing students plenty of time to complete each quiz under open-book conditions. Mr. Chao occasionally suggested a few hints during a quiz, to promote inclusive engagement if he felt students were not progressing. The students corrected the quiz through self-assessment, during which Mr. Chao would demonstrate the importance of "showing your working" and how marks were set out in each question. He negotiated explicit criteria with students, about the mark allocation based on intended learning outcomes and provided the rationale behind each mark, to encourage students to show their working out.

Teachers often tell students to show their working in an exam, but the best way to teach it is to practise using real examples.
