With only 11 school days of Term 1 remaining, it is safe to say that this term is flying by!

I must say that there is a lot to celebrate, as this term has been a very positive one indeed.

Notably, I would like to acknowledge the Year 11's for their exemplary attendancestatistics for Term 1, and the Year 12's for their exemplary behaviour statistics for this term. Below is an overview of the data sets which should be celebrated.

Our Year 11 cohort have an average attendance rate of 95.6%, with the majority of our students indicating 'regular' attendance (90% or greater). Well done to the Year 11's and keep up the great work!

It is essential that all Year 12's attend each and every day, as time is running away from us. I appreciate that sickness and misadventure in life is unavoidable however, I ask that unnecessary absences are avoided. As always, I ask that both Year 11 and 12 students to not depart early to assist with seeding etc. and maintain the commitment they made upon enrolment to attend school every day.

Below is our behaviour data for Weeks 1-6 of this Term. Our Year 11 boys remain highly overrepresented in this data; however we are optimistic that the majority have now settled in and we anticipate these figures will shift. Big congratulations to our Year 12 cohort and also to our Year 11 girls for (by-and-large) maintaining the College's expectations, ethos and culture. To our Year 11 boys, we have faith that you can buck this trend.

Vaping

It is evident that there is brazen vaping continuing to occur on site, in toilets, in student dormitories, common rooms etc. Our stance, messaging and consequences regarding vaping remains clear. Students who tamper with CCTV cameras or are caught vaping or in possession of vaping implements will have consequences applied. The College continues to be proactive with educating students on the unknowns and effects of vaping and is able to facilitate referrals for those who may have an addiction.

Updates to College Dress Requirements

Following some confusion amongst parents and then concerns being raised via the P&C regarding dress standards in both boarding and during the school day, we have spent the last few weeks consulting with the College Board, Senior Staff and the Student Council to review and update our Guidelines. Our updated College Guidelines are available on our website, and we have aimed to clearly outline the requirements, along with making some adjustments and updating the policy based on student, parent and staff feedback.

College Board Representatives

Thank you to all of the parents that took the time to vote in our ballot for the incoming Year 11 Board representatives. I am pleased to advise that the following parents have been elected to the Board for a 2-year term:

  • Crystal Henderson
  • Laura Russ
  • Lucinda Smith

Once again, thank you and congratulations to the students and staff on what has been a highly successful term-to-date. Wishing you all a fantastic weekend ahead.
