Karoo celebrates World Maths Day
On Thursday 23rd March students participated in a whole school event celebrating World Maths Day @ Karoo! Students worked in mixed groups across year levels, and moved between four classroom activities. They completed a range of investigations including:
- How many counters do you think would fit on a page of your maths book?
- I have some chickens and some cows behind a fence. I can see 24 legs behind the fence. How many chickens and cows might I have?
- A quarter of the flowers in your garden are orange. Draw a picture of what your garden could look like.
- Using only scissors and a piece of A4 paper, what is the longest piece of paper you can make?
- Exploring tangrams, patterns and shapes with a certain number of matchsticks
There was definitely a buzz in the air, helped along with a few maths jokes throughout the day!
