“Let us learn to live with kindness, to love everyone, even when they do not love us”

Pope Francis

Dearest Marian Community,

As we move closer to the season of Advent, we are reminded of the importance of celebrating the birth of Jesus. The preparations that occur during this time for our celebration are special as well, as we look to bring the spirit of giving, kindness, and love to all. During this season here at MCC, we demonstrate this through our creation of the St Vincent De Paul Christmas Hampers. We use Jesus as our ultimate inspiration for the virtues listed above as He blessed us with the ultimate gift of eternal life and His teachings of love. The lessons taught to us within Catholic Social Teaching guide us to become closer to Him through living in the image of God. We do this through living a life of love and mission.

I believe that we should see our giving to St Vincent De Paul as an opportunity to grow into the society that we wish to become. We use projects like this as a catalyst to come together harmoniously and work towards The Common Good, though I believe that as people of faith, we should be examples of living a virtuous life.  We can do this by being kinder to each other, showing compassion, respect and performing random acts of kindness. Currently in Year 12 Studies in Catholic Thought, we are looking at the notion of living a eudaimonic life. This means living a life of flourishing through the expression of internal happiness. We do this by selfless acts to all within our community. So the challenge is there MCC, how can you live a life of love, help others flourish and become the best versions of themselves?
