Speaking of leaders, on behalf of all of our support staff, parents, carers and students I wish to thank the ongoing efforts of our teachers and wish them a very happy World Teachers’ Day!

While 2021 has been challenging at times, we wish to thank our teachers for their dedication, innovation, passion and care demonstrated this year.

I encourage you all to send your teachers a sincere message of gratitude to thank them for their continued efforts.

Year 11 Semester Two Reports are now available through Compass.

For each subject, teachers have reported on:

  • Commitment to Learning
  • Semester Grade
  • Commendations and Recommendations

(VET subjects will report on VET competencies and Work Placement Hours instead of a Grade)

Please note the Semester Grade is NOT solely based on student summative or formal assessment, but rather an indication of their learning achievement as mapped against Course Performance Descriptors and the Common Grade Scale.

We encourage all parents to have conversations with their children about what they have done well, what they need to improve, how they can do this and how they can support their child.

It is now essential that students reflect on their report and learning gain in Year 11 as they move into their HSC year. I urge students to take responsibility for their learning progress by reflecting on what they can do to improve their learning and initiating conversations with their teachers.

Next Wednesday, the 3rd of November from 3:45 – 6pm, the College will also provide a formal opportunity for parents/carers and students to engage with teachers in our Year 11 Zoom Learning Conferences.

These conferences are pivotal for students as they prepare to engage in their HSC year. As such, I urge parents and carers to ensure they book an appointment for themselves and their child to both attend, with a copy of the student report handy.

Parents and students will be able to log into Zoom from home and video conference with their teacher to discuss learning progress and needs.

Parents can now book their appointments with teachers via Compass. Links to Zoom Meetings will be sent on the afternoon of the conferences.

Finally, I wish to acknowledge our Year 12 teachers and students, who have less than two weeks now until the HSC Exams.

Students, I urge you to focus your energy in these final two weeks on preparing by completing a range of past papers under timed conditions and submitting for marking to your teachers.

Make the most of these final few days of study and please contact Mr Morris if you have any concerns or questions.

Yours in Learning,

Lora Segrave and Damien Herb
