It was very pleasing to see the recent publication of this collection of stories written by Dr Priya Kulkarni. Priya was the director of the Cipla Palliative Care and Training Centre, Pune for many years and was an alumnus of the prestigious International Palliative Care Leadership Initiative from San Diego Hospice. Priya has worked in palliative care since 2000, training at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai and completing a number of international fellowships in palliative care, with Rosalie Shaw being a particular mentor to her.

Priya has published a book based on case histories from her extensive career. These are stories of hope, courage, trust, love and respect. This book is a tribute to those who have taught Priya her craft, to those she works alongside and a guide for clinicians who are new to this field.
