Selamat Siang parents, carers and families!

Welcome back to the first week of Term 4! Hopefully everyone has had a nice rest for the past two weeks and are refreshed and ready to go.

Before we left for holidays, students worked on their regularly set Maths and Literacy tasks where there was a common theme of teaching the teacher to show what they have learnt. The students did an incredible job of showing what they have learnt and how they would teach someone else this knowledge. It seems like we have a few future teachers in our midst!

In Literacy, the tasks focused on our Term 3 reflections, reading strategies and delivering a presentation using our clear voices. Many students enjoyed sharing their science experiments and were able to share some classic and new experiments that even teachers want to have a go at. At the end of the week we developed a procedure report that students walked us through their experiments and presented their reflections using their speaking and listening skills.

For Maths, students demonstrated their knowledge of arrays, multiplication, money and addition through teaching their favourite strategies. We also discussed Chance and Probability. The students also extended on this idea by looking at fractions and used their understanding of chance and symmetry to show their own fractions from home.

For Wellbeing, students had the opportunity to join in on our social zooms hosted by Miss Glen and Miss Tillotson, where students were able to play games and have fun with their peers. We also had a chance to get active with our AFL webex where we practiced our footy skills. Lastly we ended our week with our whole school assembly over zoom which was lovely to see all our students having a sing with our final song!

Our weekly choice board offered even more activities for students to choose from surrounding our footy day celebrations. We had a range of activities where students were expressing themselves and creating their own pep talk, designing their own jersey and making signs to keep us safe from the sun at school. Students were encouraged to make connections to things that are important to them through writing about symbols they would put on their own jersey similar to our dreamtime AFL jerseys. Students also had multiple activities where they could practice their writing like creating footy cards and imagining being at an AFL match.

We look forward to wonderful Term 4!
