Student Leadership

Mentone Girls’ Secondary College educates students to achieve their highest potential, so they become self-directed, confident and skilled as they take their places in society. The College aims to be an exemplary provider of leadership opportunities for all students, ensuring that they become well-balanced and resilient young adults capable of sustaining strong and supportive relationships in a changing world, and contributing to society’s general well-being. The student leadership program values, encourages and supports all students in developing leadership skills and in having the opportunity to put the college values of Resilience, Respect and Personal Best into practice.

 

The process for applying for student leadership positions for 2022 is currently being shared with students currently in Year 7 to 11 via email, compass and the Personal Learning programs. 

 

The structure introduced during 2020 continues with:

  • two College Captains (year 12)
  • senior Captain for each of the six teams: Performing Arts, STEAM, SRC, Environment & Sustainability, Student Voice & Advocacy (SVA) and Sports/House captains

Senior College Captains - Two positions at Year 12

I am applying to be a senior COLLEGE CAPTAIN

Students applying for College Captain positions will be invited to address their year level possibly by video (to be determined)

 

Junior School Captains (year 8, 2022) and Middle School Captains (Year 9 or 10, 2022) – Two Captains each sub school

I am applying to for Junior OR middle School Captain

 

Team Captains – One senior (11 or 12) Captain of each of the six teams: STEAM, Environment & Sustainability, Performing Arts, Student Voice & Advocacy, SRC and Sports (not house)

I am applying to be the senior Captain of one of the teams

 

All teams all year levels: Four positions at each year level. Included House (Sports) Captains AND House Performing Arts Captains 

I am applying to be part of a team
