The class of 2021
Farewell to year 12 students
What a year it has been. As the Class of 2021, we definitely didn’t expect to have what is meant to be such a memorable year, spent predominantly at home. This year hasn’t been the easiest, but we got off to a good start. We were lucky enough to have our Year 12 Formal with each other, solidifying the community that we share with our year level. We also managed to go all-out with events such as the Swimming Carnival and House Athletics, as well as the infamous Year 7 and 12 Fancy Dress.
Unfortunately, after a few snap lockdowns, the majority of Term 3 has involved waking up at 8:45am before jumping on a Google Meet 5 minutes later. Suffice it to say, motivation has dropped.
Especially with the last fortnight of Term 3, stress was at an all time high with many of our final SACs being completed remotely.
Thankfully, many of the students have finished all major assessments before the exam period begins, so we have more time on our hands to finally relax and prepare for what is hopefully a Term 4 onsite. The hope amongst the group is that we can finally see each other in our last term of high school, so we can celebrate the accomplishment together with events such as Valedictory Dinner and Celebration Day.
Despite the fact that we haven’t been able to see each other as a 2021 cohort as much as we would have liked to, we’re making the most of lockdown by staying connected at home. To have something to remember this crazy year we’ve experienced, we’ve put together a video with over 100 year 12s participating in a recent TikTok trend to boost morale during online learning.
The video also includes our coordinators Ms Molina, Ms Selir, Ms Garton, Ms Liakos and Ms Chris who we’re extremely grateful for during this time as they continue to support us as a year level. We’re so proud of what our year level has achieved this year despite such difficult circumstances and we hope to have the opportunity to celebrate the end of our journey at MGSC together soon.
