Principal's News

Mr Rodrigues

 Dear Families,

It is great to be back for Term 4, and whilst it is not the perfect start, at least we know the end is in sight and that soon we will begin the staggered return to school for all of our children. At this stage the State Government has given us some guidelines as to when different year levels can return and on what days. I am currently working with MACS to ensure that the best model can be implemented for our children at Trinity.  It will be great if all our Prep and Year One students can return at the same time and be followed by the other year levels, and that we can choose the days so as to maximise their learning while onsite. As soon as we are able to clarify these days and the model I will let all of you know.

All the teachers and leaders at Trinity will be working hard in the lead up to ensure that all is in place for a safe and exciting return to school.  When dropping in on children's Google Meets on Monday it was clear that all classes have started off in a really positive way.  They should all be congratulated for their ongoing dedication and enthusiasm working from home.

MACSSIS School Community Surveys

Every year, parents, children and staff in our Victorian Catholic schools complete a number of surveys to help provide important feedback which can be used to both identify our current strengths and of course those areas in which we can improve. In 2019, however, these surveys were not done due to the impact of COVID 19 at that time. It is important, therefore that this year we do complete these important surveys to gather relevant data for us to use to continue to improve our school. Shortly all families will receive a unique pin and access to these surveys. We hope that every family is able to complete the 20 minute survey so that we get a good cross section of opinion. All our staff are required to complete a survey as well as each child in Year 4 to Year 6. MACSSIS is a collaborative approach to school improvement that includes all members of the school community.

A Possum came to visit

Yesterday  we had a visit from a furry little creature who we think may have forgotten to adjust her clock for day light savings. Some of our children were excited to watch her as she curled up for nap in the playground.

School Values

COMMUNITY        EXCELLENCE       RESPECT

As you would recall, earlier this year we surveyed parents, children and staff to find out what values we believe can help us to be the best people we can. After much thought and discussion we decided on these three values which could become an important focus for teachers and children to help guide our thoughts and actions each day.   As a school community we hope to see these values lived out by all of us and I encourage you to speak to your children about what these mean and how we can put them into action in our daily lives.

Staff First Aid Training

Over the past few weeks each member of staff has been completing important online learning in First Aid and emergency management. Staff will also complete an onsite practical session to review this theory and to practice emergency treatment including CPR training. This process is an important part of providing a safe environment for all of us, especially our children. This is a big commitment by all staff but an extremely important and worthwhile one.

Playground Upgrade

Today, Damien from Tiger Turf, came out to visit to further explore the resurfacing of our outside play areas.  This work will certainly add to our already wonderful resources and provide an even better playing surface for our children. The work is part of our ongoing maintenance plan to ensure Trinity Primary School continues to be an excellent school of choice for new families in and around Richmond.

I am meeting with our student leaders to get their ideas and input about the final design.

Art Show

As you are aware we have unfortunately had to keep postponing our planned Art Show but today our Art Committee met to discuss what might be possible for us this year. It may be something virtual but it will still give us the opportunity to share and celebrate the wonderful creative work of so many of our children.

School Uniform

Thankyou all again for your input into some of the ideas for our updated school uniform. We are hoping that we can have some examples on display at school and that we will be ready to provide all of our new Preps with this school uniform.

Prep 2022 Transition

Our Prep 2022 transition days are an extremely important part of the process of enabling Kindergarten children to familiarize themselves with "Big School" prior to beginning next year. To ensure these can go ahead onsite we have decided to have just three mornings instead of four and have moved the days to a little later in the year when we hope things will have returned to a more normal routine. Our first Transition Morning will be on Wednesday 10th November, the second on Wednesday 17th November and the third on Wednesday 24th November. We will communicate with all Prep 2022 families in the coming weeks.
