Equine

Parry Beach Ride
The final Year 12 equine excursion to Parry's Beach with the horses is one of the most anticipated equine excursions on the calendar. The overcast skies could not dampen the students or horses' enthusiasm. Students rode up the beach to a large flat area where the Parry inlet flows out into the ocean. The calm inlet waters provided a good opportunity for plenty of splashing around, although one horse liked it so much he decided to sit down.
It is always fabulous to watch students who have gained skills and confidence over their time in Equine at the WACOA-Denmark, confidently riding their horses out at the beach. Big thank you to Andy who volunteered his time to make the excursion happen.
Intra-College Equine Championship
Over the year students who agist their own horse at the WACOA-Denmark have the opportunity to compete in numerous equine events. This year phases included: cross-country, dressage, games, hacking and show jumping. Points are awarded on placings for each phase. These points are combined and tallied at the end of the year and go towards championship awards. The events are low key and fun, encouraging all students to have a go. It is a great way for their horses to be introduced to competition as well. The more phases a student enters the higher their chance of gaining a championship award. Awards are given for each year group plus an overall champion. This year's championship awards go to:
Overall Champion: Letitia Keam | Champion Yr11: Chontelle Bock |
Reserve Overall Champion: Kasey James | Reserve Champion Yr11: Annika Stone |
Champion Yr10: Dakota Dalton | Champion Yr12: Letitia Keam |
Reserve Yr10: Ella Cameron | Reserve Champion Yr12: Kasey James |
Congratulations to all those students and a big thank you to the volunteers who helped over the year.
