Travel Arrangements - Request to Parents/Students

When your child is returning to the College via a flight or TRANSWA could you please send a text through to 0428480206 and 0428480207 to let us know that they are on their way and confirming arrival point and time?  We do check the details in REACH however, confirmation provides that extra detail.

Travel Arrangements for Home Weekend and End of Term

Please let us know if a bus ticket is required for the Home Weekend. The College can organise forward travel arrangements, so please advise us, or your child, of the travel arrangements required. Return ticket is to be booked by parent/guardian and must be booked to arrive in the early afternoon into Albany or Denmark. Late arrival into Albany will incur a pick up fee of $100.00.  All othertravel arrangements throughout the term are to be arranged by parent/guardian.

Home Weekend – Return to College

Boarders are to return no earlier than 2:00pm on Monday 22nd November 2021.  Residential staff will be on site from that time.

REACH

We still have some students who are not using REACH due to outdated phones and devices. However, you can log on through a College computer and use a browser to access REACH. Parents, if you are having issues with the App, please log on through your browser and/or approve via the email you receive once your child has submitted leave.  Please note….I will not approve last minute leave.  Please have your leave organised prior to the weekend.

Southwest Adventure Tour

Permissions and information for the upcoming Southwest Adventure Tour on the weekend of the 5th-7th November, 2021, have gone out to parents of students who have signed up for this fantastic weekend event.  Students will be staying at the Busselton Camping Centre – Baptist Church and visiting the Busselton Archery Park, Gravity Trampoline Centre, and Laser Tag.  Please get your permissions and payment back in as soon as possible.  Thank you.

Leavers Jackets 2022

Our ‘Leavers Jacket 2022 Committee’ are still working on their design, I hope to have something from them by the end of Week 4.  The plan is to have orders placed and paid for before the end of the 2021 year. I have spoken with a local supplier who will provide us with a quote.  The jackets can then be ordered and delivered in a much timelier manner.

Health & Wellbeing

If parents or students are making Dr’s appointments our preference is that the appointments are made for 3:30pm onwards. This causes the least amount of disruption and enables the residential staff to be involved when their shift starts. Important, please advise Admin of appointment dates and times on 9848 0200 or email Denmark.WACOA.Adminstaff@education.wa.edu.au

The College continues to provide support to students requiring doctors and other health related appointments. Where possible these appointments are made outside of school hours to minimise disruption to the school program. For any follow up appointments with specialists, the College asks parents and carers where possible to make these during school holidays.  Please contact the College if your child has any medical imaging needs before appointments are made in Albany.

When students are ill in residence the College will provide immediate care and will arrange necessary medical appointments. To minimise the spread of illness all students who are unwell are required to remain in their rooms, eat after all other students and minimise contact with other students until recovered. If students are unable to participate in the learning program for more than one day the College will contact families to discuss alternative care arrangements.

School Psychologist

Bree Crocket is our Registered School Psychologist for 2021. Bree will be on campus on Thursday and every second Tuesday for students who would like to make an appointment.  Bree can help students with strategies for settling into boarding life, managing relationships, study habits and exam stress. We would like to encourage students to use this valuable service.  Parents can also contact Bree if they wish to do so.

Medication

A reminder that we require students to hand in any medication that they have to residential staff where medication is recorded, stored and administered from the Residential Office.

Vehicle Forms

Prior to any student vehicle/motor cycle being brought to the College please ensure all forms are completed and up-to-date and that any vehicle or motorbike that comes on to site has been approved.  Quad bikes will not be approved as part of our recreational motor cycle program.

Reminder

Weekend Leave – Please have it in REACH by WEDNESDAY NIGHT…..Thank you…I appreciate that.
