Berthe Mouchette Competition 2021 – Nossal Students through to the Finals!

Despite recurrent restrictions due to lockdown, the VCE French cohort remained fortunate enough to participate in the 2021 Alliance Francaise Berthe Mouchette Competition. Alongside a written exam, the oral exam was conducted via Zoom, and in the first section allowed us to engage in general conversation with an examiner who posed questions about our personal world as well as our experiences as learners of French language and culture. The second section provided us the choice of an image reflecting contemporary themes, or a poem, to guide a discussion in French.  This year, we had an outstanding number of four finalists for the oral exam in our 3/4 French class, including Nadia Hadzikadic, Manvitha Raju, Andrea Thaithong and myself which involved a short general conversation assessed by two examiners. This enriching experience provided us each with the perfect opportunity to experience the conditions of our approaching VCE French oral exam in October, and to expand our confidence regarding our communicative skills in a foreign language.

Well done to all who participated this year!
