Welcome back

It has been wonderful to have the students back on campus and to hear the noise from the classrooms and playground. It was a surreal experience being on campus during remote learning, knowing that classes were occurring but I was unable to simply wander in on them. It has been lovely to be able to pop in to classes with Ms Anthony and say welcome back to the students. The first few weeks are about re-connecting for both the students and staff. It is important that we continue to look out for each other and remember the importance of being a kind member of this special community.

We are still operating under restrictions and we hope to see a gradual relaxation of these over the coming months. As soon as changes occur we will share these with students and families alike.

Positive Choices Webinar

'Risk taking' - why do teens do the things they do? What can parents do to keep them as safe as possible?

This Positive Choices webinar presented by Paul Dillon will briefly examine the history of 'teenagers', rebellion and the different 'temptations' that have existed over time. Using the latest research on the developing brain, it will also discuss why adolescence is a period of 'risk-taking' and the reasons why young people make the decisions they do during this time. Sleepovers, parties and gatherings provide teens with valuable opportunities to develop important socializing skills but are not 'risk-free'. The presentation will also provide some practical strategies and tips for parents considering allowing their teen to attend such an event to help ensure they are as safe as possible.
