What’s Happening in RE Classrooms?
Term 4 Week 4
This week Year 8 students started their final topic of Stage 4 learning, Reconciliation. As part of our RE Annual Improvement Plan, we are continuing to refine our focus on each topic to ensure the unit of work meets the needs of students and students can see relevance in their worlds. In this unit, our focus concept is “God as a Merciful God” and students will unpack this idea by completing three Learning Sequences; Sin & Forgiveness, Sacraments of Healing and how we live out these sacraments each day.
Next week, Year 7 will start their final unit of the term, “Religions in the World”. In this unit students examine the nature and role of Christianity Catholicism. Students also explore the beliefs and religious expressions of other major religious traditions including the spirituality of our First Nations peoples. This topic is really important in assisting students to understand the role interfaith dialogue plays in our multicultural and multifaith Australian society. The introduction of this multi-faith Australia allows students to gain mutual understanding and respect for other cultures and beliefs.
Next week also, we welcome Ms Elise Campbell to Kildare and the RE team. Elise was successful in the recently advertised Religious Education and PDHPE job and comes to us with a wealth of knowledge. She is really looking forward to meeting and working with students. Elise will be teaching Year 7 & 8 Religion taking Mr Holbrook’s classes.
