Prayer

WE GATHER
The Feast of All Souls, November 2, is a significant day in our Liturgical Calendar because it gives us an opportunity to remember and pray for all those who have died over the past year; those who have died because of the Covid-19 pandemic; those who have died in conflict; those members of our own family and our circle of friends. We gather as one in holding all these people in our heart and prayers.
WE LISTEN
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. Believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, so that where I am, there you may be also. And you know the way to the place where I am going.” Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you know me, you will know[d] my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.”
WE RESPOND
Merciful God, You have prepared a place for us after our earthly life has ended.
May that promise of salvation strengthen our hope and trust and soften the grief we feel in losing our loved ones. We pray through Jesus the Resurrection and the Life. Amen.
WE ARE SENT
Be light for all those who feel the darkness of grief.
We keep our Year 12 students in our prayers as they begin their HSC Exams on Tuesday 9 November.
God, we ask that our students
feel your closeness during the HSC exam period.
Give them calm hearts and quiet confidence in the knowledge that you hold them in the palm of your hand.
Bless them with keen understanding and retentive memory.
Give them the ability to grasp things correctly, be exact in their explanations and an ability to express themselves clearly.
Point out clearly the beginning, direct their progress and help them in the completion of each of their responses.
Holy Spirit, send them your gifts of wisdom and knowledge.
We ask this through Christ Our Lord.
Amen.
Blessings,
Christine Savage | Leader of Faith, Formation and Mission
