Fabulous 5/6

Grade 5/6

Term 3 Week 4

Message from the Teacher:

We have finally reached the end of term 3 and what a wild, crazy and busy term it has been. We survived camp, ran market stalls, simplified fractions, investigated report writing, persevered in tee-ball and ran ourselves ragged on the athletics track.

By now you have probably received all the crazy stories and tales about camp. I just want to congratulate all the people who went away. The resilience shown and the respect given were just the most amazing thing to witness and every kid blew me away with their positivity, friendliness and care for their fellow campers. Even when we were tired, muddy, angry and homesick, the kids stood up as leaders and I was incredibly proud of them. Thank you to Mr Bradley, Ms Mugford, Anna and Sam for all their hard work. What a camp!

The Highlights

  • The Grade 6’s on the zipline, facing their fears on the first day.
  • Levi’s record run on the high ropes course and Gaby facing her fears and going all the way round (even though she told anyone who would listen that she would not do the course).
  • TT and Charlie’s impromptu swim in the river.
  • Kiri’s amazing dance moves at the talent show.
  • Everyone seeming to go for seconds and thirds for dinner and enthusiastically serving others as the wait staff when we were on duty.
  • Hut building in the rain.
  • The night walk and the shooting stars
  • The amazing bushland and wildlife we saw, including the giant water dragons!
  • The numerous attempts at building fires and mastering the ‘teepee’ by the end of camp.

Next term I will be away for the first 3 weeks, attending to my soon to be growing family. My class will be taken by Miss Jackson, a teacher with experience at Le Page and the kids should therefor not miss a beat. We will be working on Poetry, Percentages and SPACE!!! Thank you to everyone who has passed along their best wishes, it has been very much appreciated.
