Darwinia House
Hello everyone, my name is Francesca, and I am the SRC for Class Year 8 Darwinia. So much has occurred this year that was fun and I am sure if I were to list all the events that I enjoyed, from the Athletics Carnival to the ‘Baskerville’ Production, this summary would go on until the very next page!
Instead, I will choose to talk about one event that I really believe brought so much connection, pride, and celebration to Dandenong High School: Cultural Week. For this event, students were given the opportunity to run it by themselves - with some assistance from teachers, of course – and it was amazing to see all the SRC leaders of Banksia, Callistemon, Darwinia, Eucalyptus, Fern and Hakea and the House Student Leadership team working together and to be so involved in such a big task. The result of the preparation and teamwork was a week of performances and cultural food trucks to celebrate the different cultures and countries that we come from. I especially loved seeing all the colorful and detailed cultural clothes that people wore.
Now, it is hard to believe that Cultural Week was months ago and that soon we will be moving on to 2023! Students are preparing for the next step; some are remaining and will be using Transition Week to prepare for the next year level, others will be leaving for either selective schools or into a new phase of their life having reached the end of high school. But I hope for everyone that next year will be filled with as many enjoyable and unforgettable experiences and events as this year – if not more.
