Once a FIRE carrier, always a FIRE carrier

The saying goes, "Once a FIRE carrier, always a FIRE carrier". Friends Igniting Reconciliation through Education is a social justice committee at SJRC that has recently joined a growing South-East cluster of primary and secondary schools which come together to promote Indigenous culture and issues.

A few weeks ago on August 11, the newest members attended a commissioning ceremony held at St Augustine’s Primary School, Frankston South. During the course of the day, they participated in an Indigenous cooking experience and prepared native plants inside makeshift pots among other things. This now brings the total number of staff and students involved to a whopping twenty-nine members - "from little things, big things grow!"

We look forward to continuing our work at St John's Regional College with the official school Reconciliation Action Plan (within our Covenant).
