Captains' Corner

Hello everyone!

What a term it's been. Not only are we moving onto Term 4, the very last term for the year, but the Year 12s have officially completed their last full term of school!

This term has been filled with College events.

We had our annual Book Week celebration and it was bigger than ever this year. We had incredible costumes from everyone, including a very special shout out to my Co-Captain Kye or should I say Jesus. This was followed by an amazing teacher vs. student debate which many of our students enjoyed watching. Overall Book Week was an amazing event to celebrate. A big thank you to Ms Heldt for her tireless planning of the week to ensure everyone enjoyed themselves.

On to Term 4, our Year 12s will be saying a big farewell to the College community on October 18th. This is both an exciting and nerve-wracking experience for many of us as it brings us closer to preparing for exams as well as for our life after we graduate.

I thank you all for providing me with the opportunity to lead our College this year and wish the best to the new leaders in 2023.

Kind Regards,

Vanessa Sayers AQ1

Hello everyone!

A testament to spring - a new opportunity;

The forthcoming of spring has lifted my spirits as we depart from the raging storms and tempered rain - A new sense of peace has been present in the school. I am glad to finally feel the warmth of the sun again!

The onset of the new season can provide us with some respite before the final drive and push towards the climax of the academic year. Turbulent times have drifted with the weather, but I hope everyone remains safe during our final spur towards the end of our third term.

This term has been filled with many fun endeavours such as Book Week; which I thank the CLC Staff, Ms Heldt and all other staff involved in its organising and perfect execution! It was very enjoyable catching public transport dressed as Jesus!

The term will continue to drive forward, with our Year 9s and 10s leaving for camp soon! I wish everyone an amazing experience. My best advice is that you derive from what you put into any given situation, so be sure to give everything your best efforts!

I warn everyone to bring warm clothes though, by the time we returned from our three-day venture I was wearing three layers of clothing!

The arrival of our final term looms in the distance and although it may be an anxious tension, especially for the senior years, it can also be considered to be a final opportunity to develop cherished memories before the cycle of life continues once again.

My tenure as College Captain approaches its conclusion, and I reflect on every moment provided in this position with deep affection and fondness. The opportunity to help and hear your stories has made my life more enriched and I thank you all dearly for this honour. As time marches forward, and new seeds begin to sprout and blossom, new dreams will be made - and many more will be realised. The work we have accomplished together will live on, beyond our time here at St John’s, and beyond your time here as well. We have the power to create an environment and lay the foundation for a marvellous structure that will be enjoyed by many future generations to come.

Never underestimate the volume of your character and the strength of your determination.

Seize the day, yearn for the opportunity.

Sincerely,

Kye Duncan
