R U OK? Day was led by our Wellbeing team here at the college. It was a fantastic day full of fun activities and positive connections. Students were involved in an R U OK? Day Mentor class; we had a petting zoo games and prizes. It was fantastic to see Mabo students in the House office reflecting on their support people, thank you to Miss JP for leading this mindful initiative.
There are a few changes coming to our Mabo House office. It is with great sadness we say goodbye to Mr Jamie Marks, our year 7 and 8 Learning Leader. Over the years Jamie has made an incredible impact on the students and staff he works with. He has been a coordinator, the head of HPE and a fantastic addition to the student learning leader team. He has led whole school House spirit through overseeing Athletics and Swimming carnivals, run numerous camps from hiking at Wilson’s Prom to driving 40 students to Darwin for 2 weeks and made everyone’s time at HPSC enjoyable and full of laughs. As a community we would like to thank you for the positive energy and influence you have had, we will miss you greatly but hope you have a fantastic time at Parkdale Secondary College as a Health and PE Teacher.
Val Simpson has been a long standing and valued member of staff here at HP for 30 years. Over this time she has ran the Year 12 study centre, worked in the front office, designed and delivered debutant balls, valedictory dinners and supported our teaching staff and students. Val has currently been working as our Mabo House admin assistant. We would like to wish Val a fantastic time on her long service leave in Term 4, we will miss her support, her humour, compassion, and care for us and our students, she leaves big shoes to fill!
Val will be returning to the front office in Term 4, and we are awaiting a proper goodbye at the end of the year to wish her well on her retirement after years of service to our community.
