Vaping Information Session

On September 8th, a Health Forum was held with parents from a Dari-speaking background.

It was a productive time focusing on the topic of Vaping. There was an excellent presentation on the elements and dangers of vaping by Kaye Walker – our secondary school nurse - and an explanation on the school vaping policy.

Following an question time, topics were suggested for further Health sessions. At the next session in term 4 we hope to cover several topics including childhood illnesses and vaccinations.

Many thanks to Feroz for his excellent interpreting skills and to Rehana and the MEA team who helped pull this together and assisted on the day.

The Body Project

Many young people experience negative thoughts and feelings about their body. This can be the way you think about, feel towards, perceive and act towards your body. This program is internationally recognised to empower young people in their own body and challenge pressures placed on them by society to pursue particular body or appearance ideals.  Hampton Park Secondary College ran our first Body Project Workshops in August 2022. We had a small group of students participate across 4 sessions and it was a valuable time.  To celebrate the conclusion of the program we have had the opportunity to do some body activism in the form of writing body positive messages on glass windows around the school. One of the students commented "This is the most fun thing I've done at school! Writing positive messages everywhere :)"
