 4 C's

On Monday 5th September students from Hampton park secondary took part in the 4Cs cultural showcase at Bunjil Place. Students spent many months rehearsing and preparing for the big day.

We had students from many cultural groups present , including Afghan, Cook Island, Samoan, and Tongan. The show was a sell out and huge success. A massive congratulations to all the students who participated and representing our school community.

R U OK? Day

On Friday 9th September HPSC commemorated RUOK? Day. The national day is to recognise and reach out to those who are struggling with their mental health and to encourage conversations to check in, connect and offer supports.

The day began with all students and staff receiving breakfast, kindly packed and donated to us by the Mental health Foundation of Australia. Students also completed activities during their mentor class to encourage their understanding on asking RUOK? And where to go to for extra supports. Year 12 students were lucky enough to receive a showbag from the wellbeing with items donated and sourced from our local services to remind them to relax, take a break, reach out and connect with others when needed.

During lunch time we had lots of local services come in and connect with students and staff.  These services included Myuna Farm petting zoo, Headspace youth services, Monash refugee health, South East Community links, local police, the 180 group, and a  St Kilda football club representative.

The day was a huge success with a   great community spirit created. A huge thanks to all the services who donated and supported our school with the success or RUOK? Day 2022.

Wear it Purple Day

On 29th August we celebrated Wear it Purple Day here at HPSC.

This year was our first wear it purple day as a whole school event in person! Wear it purple day is a national day to show your support and recognition for those who identify as part of the rainbow community.

Our day started with a special breakfast club with some rainbow treats on offer. Over lunchtime we had lots of activities on offer for the school to take part in; friendship band making, karaoke , a photo booth, a rainbow drawing activity and puzzle making.

A shout out to all the staff and students who helped to make this day a success and bring around a splash of purple to our Hampton park community!

Lego Club

Lego Club has grown both in numbers and purpose. It has transformed from a place all about Lego, to a safe space for year 7’s to have fun, play games and spend time with friends. As you will notice in the pictures, some kids don’t even have Lego but will still come because the club has become a little home away from home.

Time to Shine Program

This term the wellbeing team launched the “Time to Shine Program” which ran for 7 weeks. It was a program where a select group of year 7 students learned skills in emotion regulation, conflict resolution, empathy, communication, and self- care. Each week the student engaged in different activities and games to enhance their social skills and sense of self-worth.  Students left the program with the following comments…

“I would recommend it for other year 7’s because it is so important for them”

“I learned about opening up to people and emotions”

“I am better than I think I am”

“Its fun and interesting to learn how you or others feel about themselves”

“It helped me get to know people”
