Week 8 of Term 3 was a massive week for Ziele House!
Firstly, excitingly, after many years of second placings, on Wednesday we were named Champion House at this year’s Athletics Carnival! After the assembly on Wednesday morning the House gathered at the flagpole to watch the Ziele House flag raised (officially) for the first time!
On Friday we held our annual fundraiser for our official House Charity – ‘Carrie’s Beanies for Brain Cancer’. Brain cancer is an insidious disease that still has no cure, and survival rates have not changed in the past 30 years. Fundraisers like ours help to fund research to find a cure.
Every year that we support Beanies for Brain Cancer, I hear more stories from members of our BMGS community who have been personally impacted by brain cancer, and I am reminded that every little bit helps to make an impact. Thank you to all the staff and students who wore their beanies on Friday (with immaculate school uniform by students). At time of writing we have raised over $265 with donations still coming in.

And finally, Steptember! While not the official Ziele House Charity, many members of Ziele House and the greater BMGS community have stepped out for Steptember for a number of years. Our participation in Steptember was originally sparked as a challenge by Taylor Cameron (Ziele House, Class of 2018), and we have continued to step out since! Participants aim to step (at least) 10000 steps a day while fundraising for Cerebral Palsy.

At the time of writing I have personally stepped 164,875 steps!
