Yard Duties

Yard duties are an important responsibility that involves ensuring the safety and well-being of students during recess and lunch. Staff are expected to walk around the duty area, actively observing students and maintaining a strong duty of care. This is not only a time to ensure students are safe, but also an opportunity to build rapport with them, engage in informal conversations, and foster positive relationships outside the classroom.

Pre-Service Teachers should always be accompanied by another staff member when conducting yard duties.
