3. Student Policies

Uniform
There have been recent changes to the uniform. This section will be updated shortly. In the meantime, please discuss any questions with the PST Coordinator or your Mentor.
Mobile Phone Policy
Students who bring mobile phones to school must have them switched off and securely stored during school hours. For the purpose of this policy, a mobile phone is a telephone with access to a cellular (telecommunication) system, with or without a physical connection to a network. Exceptions to the policy may be applied to students with medical condition, where a mobile application is used to monitor their condition.
At Macleod College, students are well aware of the mobile phone policy. As a staff member, if you see a mobile phone in use, you are permitted to confiscate it. If you feel uncomfortable doing so, please consult your Mentor.
The process for confiscation is as follows:
1. The student is asked to surrender their mobile phone to the staff member who witnessed its use
2. The staff member must take the phone to Reception and complete a confiscation slip with the relevant details.
3. The staff member must also log the incident in a COMPASS Chronicle entry.
4. The student may collect their phone from Reception at the end of the school day or, for VCE students, when they have finished their classes for the day.
Any issues or concerns (such as non-compliance) can be raised with Student Managers through a Minor or Major Behaviour COMPASS Chronicle entry. The Student Manager will follow this up.
Leaving Class (Years 7-10)
Students may need to leave class for a viariety of reasons, including but not limited to: visiting the bathroom, going to their locker, getting a drink, or visiting the Wellbeing space. If students need to leave your class, they are required to sign-out using their school planner/diary. This allows us to keep track of student movement, and monitor time out of class.
